D.H. is coming home!!!

They've let him out. Which means they think he won't crash through the floor again, I'm none too sure of that one. So that's something atleast. Now for the excrutiating wait for the pathology report on the mass in the thyroid and then the week where he'll be back in the hospital for the Radioactive imaging and if necessary therapy as well depending on what the imaging shows.

Oh the letter arrived from the Landlord with a different date and a section they want us to return. It sounds a bit dodgy to us but We'll be seeking legal advice on that one.

So, I'm off to do some more tiding up before D.H. actually gets here. A friend is getting him from the hospital in Livingston as we speak.

Update on D. H.

Well, looks like another day without D. H. He called me at 6:30 this morning, fortunately, I was all ready awake. He called to tell me, that he had a horrible night and was no being placed on IV calcium supplementation and attached to a heart monitor, as soon as they could get one to him.

I've spoken to him, more recently, and he seems to be doing better, but he is definitely not coming home today. And all things considered, that looks like the cleaning is just going to have to wait another day.

I made the trek to Livingston today...

and made it back to Edinburgh as well. I really dislike the driving style of the drivers on that route, I always feel like I've been strapped to the back of a F1 car. I did however find a way to make it less gut wrenching, pick a seat with a forward view and/or knit.

I got several rows done on the sweater for M. on the trip. I've got 12 rounds left till the end of this repeat and M. tries it on again to see if it's long enough.

Good news on D.H. his voice has improved after the thyroidectomy, which usually makes the voice worse. They have started the Thyroxine which is a very good thing, we had been told that they wouldn't be starting that till after the immaging in 6 weeks which was a frightening thought as the thyriod controls HEART RATE among other things.

We still have no idea what the mass in the thyroid is/was we have to wait 3 weeks for that one to come back. !"£%&!"%&/!"$%%&/!" I hate waiting for what will probably be bad news, the question is how bad will the news be there are only three real options;
  1. The mass was not cancerous but we took you thyroid out anyway.
  2. The mass was the same type of cancer as the first one, things are going as we hopped on to the immaging as planned.
  3. The mass was cancerous but not the same type as the first two masses we removed, so plans have changed (how depends on what type of cancer it is).

Personally I'm hoping it's one of the first two.

Well, I'mm off to put the kids into their beds. M. is already asleep he just needs to be moved and E. is still trying to fight the ZZzzzz monster off.

Update on D.H.

D.H. is clear of surgery and apparently doing OK, according to the ward nurse I spoke with.

When it rains it pours...

you know I never thought such a phrase really would apply to life after all it's just a salt slogan, but it does.
Here's the list at present;
  1. D. H.'s surgery back on the 19 September took twice as long as planned and when the pathology came back it was not the pair of lymphangioma cysts they thought before the surgery. We are now dealing with Cystic Papillary Thyroid Cancer. Which would be bad enough if that were all. It seems that there is not a single oncologist dealing with DH's case, just a knife wielding ENT, The ENT is going back in to taking things out starting with the thyroid and ending who knows where. He should be in the surgery at the moment.
    I will be calling the hospital later to find out how he is doing.
  2. Yesterday, the landlord, through his agent offered us an extension on the Notice to Quit moving the date, we need to be out of our flat from February 3 to March 8. I will believe the extension, when I see the letter that they promised to send.

  3. The appointment is set for the housing section of the city Council on the 30th of January. So I'm trying to gather all of the necessary documentation to prove D. H.'s conditions and his current condition due to the most recent surgery, the existence of our children, and exactly when the landlord really want us out. So that they can make their decision on how much help we need from them.

Well, aside from all that, I think we're doing okay. M. is starting to wonder when D. H. will be home, which at the soonest will be Friday.

I would really like to make it to the City Knitty meeting tonight but the kids wouldn't handle that well at all.

I hope everyone else is doing better.

Hello

Hello, and welcome to my blog.

Here you might find my thoughts on much of anything. I've been meaning to post something here for quite a while now, several times they have been edited away for unsuitability for popular consumption.

...not to mention life interrupting, again.
